Run Report ....
Historic Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS), Ablion Park, 26 June 2016 ....
A cold and frosty morning gave way to a cool but clear day as eight Toranas and a HSV left Uncle Leo's Diner and headed south for Albion Park.
Apart from a small geographical embarrassing moment, suffered by Mr President, we had a pleasant drive down the Hume and Picton Road, and arrived at H.A.R.S, or the Historic Aircraft Restoration Society. Unfortunately we were met with the news that Mike and Gabby had suffered electrical gremlins with the hatch and were stranded a mere 10 minutes from HARS. Fault finding proved fruitless and the hatch (and Mike and Gabby) had to endure an inglorious ride back home on a flatbed, but the upside was the hatch got excellent fuel economy on the way home.
Rose and Harold joined the team and we all headed in for our guided tour of the aircraft displays. We divided up into two groups and were amazed at the wonderful collection of aircraft on display and the fantastic access we were given to them. Thanks to our guides and all the staff at H.A.R.S. Due to Steve's one or two, (or three…………) old air force war stories, one group took at little longer then the other which resulted in a little patience being required but allowed Bob the chance to go and make sure Mike and Gabby were ok.
Tour done, we headed-off to Albion Park RSL for Lunch and refreshments. A hearty lunch was soon on the table and following some catch-up time we all made our way back to the carpark for an impromptu Committee meeting and future club run discussions before heading home.
A great day was had by all and thanks to all that attended. Look forward to seeing you all at the next run in July
