Run Report ....
Motorlife Museum, Dapto, 24 January, 2010 ....
For our first run of 2010, the group met under grey skies at McDonalds, Liverpool and it was good to see the potentially bad weather didn't dampen the enthusiasm of what was to be an excellent roll up of members.
There was one wuz from the south who didn't want to get his Torrie wet however and turned up in his wife's rice burner.
Very little traffic along the way made for an easy convoy up the coast road where we passed heaps of patrol cars who had, thankfully, little interest in us. No drinkers on club runs.
Travelling up the coast road means we get to use the (relatively) new 'Sea Cliff' bridge which offers spectacular views. Thereafter, picked up Rob Shaw and the fourShaws in his striking yellow HQ and proceeded uneventfully to the Motorlife Museum at Dapto, via Mt Ousley.
The museum is a credit to the (volounteer) organisers that run it as there were some remarkable exhibits to behold. Not least amongst the substantial collection of wonderful old cars was a stunning French Delage with, the curator informed us, a concours Australian-built body. Absolutely gorgeous.
There were many old motoring nic-nacs that prompted memories of things past and much tale-telling amongst members; very enjoyable stuff indeed.
Midday saw the worms emerging so it was off to the Dandaloo Pub for lunch which offered such tremendous value as steak and chips for $6.50!
After appetites were sated and everyone suitably rehydrated, folk departed in fine weather, leaving the committee members present, to conduct their first meeting of the year.
Those present included: James Davidson, Natalie and Brittany, Ian, Cindi and Kasey Fitzgerald, Mick, Lisa, Cody and Jett Aldridge, Scott and Leanne Davidson, Michael Muller, Rob and Donna Shaw and the four Shaws, Les Wilson and Elizabeth Best, Mike Holland, Bob Byrnes.
Apologies: Larry Sullivan, Dean Byrnes, Rob and Leanne Farnsworth, Lance Haslewood.
Bob.
