Run Report ....
Swansea, 27 July 2008 ....
Again the NSWTC was blessed by a perfect winter's morning for our planned run to Swansea. We met our small, but enthusiastic group (you can tell those that like to sleep in on cold winter mornings by their non-attendance!) at McDonalds Mt Colah and after a bit of a nosh up headed off for our destination, Swansea RSL Club for lunch.
Our travels took us along the Old Pacific Highway to Calga. This stretch of road is not only favoured by Torrie drivers, but also motor cyclists and bicyclists who seem to think that they have some kind of physical field around them that will protect them if they are hit by a thundering Torrie! We rejoined the F3 Freeway just before the Mooney Mooney Bridge and collected Paul and Justin Gilmore at the twin servos at Warnervale. A short uneventful F3 trip saw us turn off at the Swansea exit and as we passed through Doyalson we collected visitor, Josh, in a very nice gold/black LH/LX Torrie.
Upon our arrival in the car park at Swansea RSL Club we greeted some familiar faces from the Hunter Valley Torana Club who joined us for lunch. Mick McCardle, President of the HVTC, gave me a brief run down of Toranafest to be held in September, which sounds like an absolute cracker of an event not to be missed. Lunch was had at the RSL Club's bistro, which looks out over the water and the food was thoroughly enjoyable. After a chat from our Runs Co-ordinator, Rob F, about our anticipated runs over the coming months it was back into our cars heading south for home. We drove into some very ominous looking cloud that always seems to be on the F3 Freeway regardless of location or time of year; must be some natural Bermuda like Triangle type of thing.
Those in attendance were: Rob and Leanne Farnsworth, Michael Velo, Les Wilson, Michael Muller, Greg and Lexa Hawkins, Paul and Justin Gilmore.
Visitor - Josh Brian, Hunter Valley Torana Club Members.
Apologies: you all know who you are!
Greg and Lexa Hawkins.
