Run Report ....

Morpeth, 25 May 2008 ...

It was the usual early starts for Andrew and Rob (Goulburn and Lithgow) to meet the rest of the members at Thornleigh for the 9.30am departure for the run up to the delightful locality of Morpeth, east of Maitland. The carpark was over run by Sti/WRX’s on arrival (they had a drive to Wollombi Pub). We slowly came in with a decent attendance of 16 for the beginning of the run. After the obligatory refuel/breakfast a run sheet read-through was held and we mounted up into the vehicles and headed up Pennant Hills Rd with the group being broken up several times by traffic lights before re-grouping along the Freeway, before being joined by our Central Coast members Greg, Lexa and Paul to be able to continue onto the Destination of Morpeth.

On arrival we found that we were unable to get car spots in front of the lunch stop forcing us to use the rear entrance of the Inn. Meals were decided on and ordered and then the group took a stroll along Swan Rd to visit the various shops that ply their business. A popular place being the Lolly Shop where some dubious purchases were made in the names of other people, some brave people stuck their head’s into the distillery and then onto the Teddy Bear Shop before returning for a delightful meal.

When leaving the Inn we left a curious couple of Michael Muller and Denise to do more exploring whilst we commenced the run homeward to our dispersal point of Warnervale Service Station. The run home was made with a constant banter of whether a certain ex-president was using the correct turn signals at the right times and turns (these roundabouts are confusing to the older generations eh!!). The return trip was a steady run due to the amount of traffic on the road. On arrival at the service centre the cars were refuelled and members were lost to each other, so good-byes were said by radio.
