Run Report ....
Berrima, 30 July 2006 ....
Let me start by saying this run was one of the best attended runs so far in the Club’s short life. The day was great, sunny and warm in the car, not so warm outside, and in total there were 22 people at our starting point, Leo’s Diner at Glenfield. More importantly there were 11 Toranas - yes 11!
Everyone was early for this run. There were two new members on the day, Andrew Squires, who came along with his dad, Bruce and Scott and Leanne Davidson (Andrew and Bruce drove up from Goulburn to join this run). After a short talk about the run, it was time to head off. Bob took the lead, all cars left Leo’s Diner together and from there it was onto the freeway. I can tell you it was a sight to see all of these Toranas travelling down the freeway together. The trip was just great, not much traffic, a good easy drive and plenty of looks. The group reached the Mittagong turn off in good time and took the Old Hume Highway to Berrima. Even on this road there was little traffic to speak of. The trip took the group just over one hour.
On reaching the Surveyor General Inn we were lucky to fit all the cars in the back car park and then it was off to look at the shops (tourist stuff!). By 12.00 noon everyone had returned to the Inn for lunch. This was where Mike Holland joined the group (he drove up from Batemans Bay). A big thank you to Carol and Dot at the Inn for lunch.
After lunch we had our two newest members’ cars photographed for the website (thanks Mick). We departed from Berrima and headed back to Sydney and beyond by 1.45 p.m., saying our goodbyes to Andrew, Bruce and Mike at the pub (they were heading south to go home). Dispersal point was the Mobil Servo at Pheasants Nest (some refuelled, some defuelled!), and the group all said our goodbyes and took off for home. I would like to thank all those who attended on the day. This was truly a great run.
Attendees: Reno , Greg and Lexa, Bob, Mick and Lisa, SteveDarren, John and Anne, Scott and Leanne Davidson, Andrew and Bruce Squires, Dean, Sam and Jason, Mike, Larry. Mark and Michelle Warren and Les.
I would like to welcome to the Club Scott, Leanne and Andrew (and his dad, Bruce). We hope to see more of you on all of our runs.
Regards, Bob Byrnes.
Run Coordinator.
